In many large facilities multiple generators are in a parallel configuration. Parallel configurations are more cost effective and can feature generator redundancy. Individual or multiple generators start, synchronise with the mains, load to site load then disconnect the mains all without any power interruptions. This can also be done in reverse. This is critical for sites that must carry out load testing of generators. Most generators, by upgrading their controls, can facilitate the synchronisation and load sharing with the mains or another power source.
